We require the ability to be able to download asset bundles during app runtime using Unity 5 (C#) on IOS. The app as this stage just needs to be a proof of concept and not a fully developed solution. Experience with Metaio is preferable as part of the task will involve being able to download new image targets and place the correct models on the correct targets.
Another area of interest is being able to download entire scenes during runtime and then being able to use them during runtime. This may be for example a level game where new levels (scenes) are downloaded and are then able to be played.
The first priority for the selected candidate is to be able to download a bundle from a web address and then import it live into a running app. The next stage will be importing new Metaio image targets and putting the correct models on those image targets. Ideally, we would like the image targets and models will be downloaded as pre-set prefabs with the models placed on the targets.
If required, we can provide a web location to store the asset bundles if they are sent to us for testing.
The final solution needs to be very simple, reliable and easy to incorporate into different projects as it will be used on App Store releases. The main reason for this requirement is to overcome the 100MB per app size restriction set by Apple.
We are looking for a candidate that I can work closely with and have regular communication with to make sure we are progressing along the right route. I do anticipate this to be a rather small task currently. We always look to re-hire successful candidates for future tasks as we build up trust.
A follow on job from this if the candidate is successful will be to produce a working Android version with potentially a further Windows version after that.
