About Us:
StackShare is like Yelp + Stack Overflow. We're the first community-driven site specifically for dev tools and cloud services, with thousands of engineers visiting our site every month and contributing recommendations and reviews. Startups like Vine, Medium, Stack Exchange, and 99Designs have joined StackShare to share the tools they use. We're a seed stage company based in the heart of Silicon Valley, in Mountain View CA.
We're looking for an awesome freelancer with extensive Rails and Ruby experience that can hit the ground running and add new features to our existing codebase. No design chops required. We have a Rails 4 app, hosted on Heroku, using Memcached, and Postgres as our db. One of your first major tasks will be to implement Russian Doll Caching and improve overall site performance.
This project requires a 20-30 hours per week commitment.
About You:
- Has experience working with startup companies
- Independent, and self-starter
- Punctual and reliable
- Requires minimal supervision
- Available to work some during PST hours
1) Create an account by visiting
http://ift.tt/1EtIQQ8 and create a personal stack page for the technologies you know best, title the stack "Tools I Know." Paste a link to your new StackShare profile page (/#{your_github_handle}) in your response to this listing. MAKE SURE THE STACK YOU CREATED CONTAINS THE TOOLS AND SERVICES YOU ARE MOST FAMILIAR WITH, DO NOT LEAVE THE STACK BLANK.
2) Please show some example projects/code on GitHub or GitHub contributions.
3) Please describe in 3-5 sentences (no more) why you'd be a good fit for this project. We strongly believe conciseness is a key skill to have when working with our team.
4) Are you comfortable speaking on the Skype? What's your time availability in terms of hours per week?
Bonus: Link to an original blog post that you wrote on your own blog or as a guest on someone else's. The topic of the post does not matter. We're interested in seeing how you communicate your ideas on paper.
Please make sure to browse StackShare.io and be familiar with the product. If we do advance to an interview, we will ask you to describe how you would have built specific features.
Good luck and thanks for your interest!
